Dr Christopher Beggs is a recognised leader in industrial and critical infrastructure cyber security, with more than two decades of experience protecting the essential services on which modern society relies.
As Founder and Principal Consultant of SIS Industrial Cyber Security, one of Australia’s earliest OT-focused cyber security firms, he has led more than 300 major security projects across the energy, water, transport, mining, oil and gas, manufacturing and healthcare sectors.
Holding a PhD in cyber terrorism and control systems security, Christopher developed the Industrial Cyber Security Principle Method™, a risk-driven approach designed specifically for operational technology environments. He also helped establish dedicated OT security monitoring and response capabilities, created the Industrial Cyber Security Assessment Scorecard and founded the SIS OT Cyber Academy, an OT-focused training and certification pathway that has helped develop the capabilities of hundreds of practitioners, engineers and asset owners.
A published researcher, keynote speaker, educator and industry commentator, Christopher is known for challenging conventional thinking on IT-centric security models, technology-led solutions and compliance-driven approaches that fail to address real operational risk. Through his work, he has helped advance OT cyber security as a distinct discipline, helping organisations strengthen resilience, improve governance and build sustainable cyber capability.
